The approach
Reward the good.
Make the rules clear.
Dogs thrive on clarity. Balanced training gives them both halves of the conversation: "yes, that's it" and "no, not that". We're upfront about it: we use punishment. A clear, fair "no", delivered with the right tools, at the right time, in proportion to the dog in front of us. You do the online prep first, then come in for 5 weeks of in-person training: one-to-one to start, group proofing sessions with other owners to finish. We support you the whole way through. We teach your dog, then we teach you, so the results hold up long after we leave.

01
Step 1
Free consultation call
Every client starts here. We talk through your dog, your goals and your daily routine, and tell you honestly whether the 5-week plan is the right fit. If it is, you get access to the online prep straight away.
-
02
Before you come in
Online prep modules
Before you come in, you work through our online course at your own pace. You'll learn how your dog thinks, the handling basics and how the plan works, so your first in-person session starts at a head start, not from zero. We're on hand to answer questions while you work through it.
-
03
Weeks 1–2
In-person 1-1 training, motivation first
Your 5 in-person weeks begin with one-to-one sessions with you and your dog, building on what you covered in the prep modules. We build engagement with food, toys and praise so your dog wants to work with you. New behaviours are taught positively and marked clearly.
-
04
Weeks 2–3
Fair punishment, clear boundaries
Once your dog understands what they're meant to do, we add structure. That means punishment: a fair, consistent "no" using the right tools, always proportionate and never out of frustration. It's what teaches your dog the rules still apply when it's distracting.
-
05
Weeks 4–5
Real-world proofing & group sessions
In the final weeks of your in-person plan, we bring your dog together with other owners and dogs at the same stage. Training around real distractions, alongside a community of owners on the same journey, builds behaviour that holds up everywhere.

06
Prep to week 5
Support from start to finish
From your first prep module to your last group session, you're never on your own. Message us between sessions with questions or a quick video, and by the end of week 5 you'll have the handling, timing and leash skills to keep it going yourself.
Owner stories
Real dogs.
Real results.
"If you have a reactive dog I would 100% use Maverick Dog Training."
Before training, my dog was very reactive. He would lunge and jump at other dogs and people, had absolutely no recall, and wouldn’t listen to any commands. Walks were stressful and difficult, and I often felt like I had no control.
Throughout the training, I started to see a real difference. He began listening to commands and responding to his recall, and his behaviour gradually improved.
Now, the difference is unbelievable! He listens to commands straight away, his recall is brilliant, and he can walk past people and other dogs without any bother. The change in him has been amazing.
The training has made my walks 100 times better and so much more enjoyable. I have so much more confidence in him, and he is a happier, better-behaved dog all round.
I honestly couldn’t be happier with the results. Seeing how far he has come has been incredible, and I’m so grateful for all the help and support throughout the training.
I would highly recommend this training to anyone struggling with a reactive dog. The difference it has made to both my dog and our everyday lives is massive!
Highly recommended!
Our 9 month old Doberman X almost broke me! Above once! The constant pulling and ignoring us. I have never had such a stubborn, strong willed dog and at such a young age I was at a loss and have been close to tears on several occasions!
Then we found Eden… We are completely blown away by the difference! Daisy has actually been a delight to walk today! Fantastic!
Highly recommend Maverick Dog Training. We did the plan & our dog has been transformed! From crazy reactive, not knowing what she was doing, to calm & connected, engaged on the lead.
We can now safely & happily take our Rottweiler on enjoyable walks.
Eden is a pleasure to work with. He's calm, reassuring & gives clear instructions & guidance. Nothing is too much trouble, he's available throughout the training for advice, help & support. Thank you Eden, we are incredibly grateful for everything you've done for our rottie.
I can’t recommend Eden and Maverick Dog Training highly enough. From the very first session, his knowledge, patience, and calm approach made a huge difference.
What really sets Maverick Dog Training apart is how they tailor the training to your dog’s personality rather than using a one-size-fits-all method. Every session felt purposeful, and the progress we saw in such a short time with my Dogue de Bordeaux was incredible. Eden took the time to explain everything clearly, so we felt confident continuing the training at home.
The results speak for themselves, our dog is more obedient, relaxed, and happy, and we feel much more in control as owners. On top of that, the whole experience was professional, friendly, and genuinely enjoyable.
If you’re looking for effective, honest, and results-driven dog training, Eden and Maverick Dog Training is absolutely the place to go.
We did 5 training sessions with Eden with our 2 year old Goldendoodle Bailey. Bailey was uncontrollable on a walk, very reactive to other dogs and situations when we started. The change in Bailey is unbelievable, walks are much more calm and enjoyable.
I highly recommend Eden, he is very patient and certainly knows his job. Also Eden is such a lovely young man, very helpful, nothing is too much for him, he is happy to help. Thank you Eden for the help and support.
4 year old Lab, pulled continuously, launched his full body weight at anything he wanted to pee up, to the point we would only take him out on holiday where we had to take him.
Maverick just flashed up one day last week on my FB page so after a 20 minute chat we decided he needed training here. Booked in the following week. I can't believe the difference, I'm now taking him 3 walks a day on a loose lead, we even sat on the field relaxed enjoying the views, my 4 year old grandson has even held the lead 😀
Thank you for our new life 😘
